 Welcome to the fascinating and imaginative worlds created by California author Cynthia Night.
Cindy has promised us a series, and she's hard at work on the next sexy paranormal romp in the dream world.
As Cindy explains it, we sleep one third of our lives. Those eight hours a day are filled with adventures in a dream world we never remember with any clarity when we return to the wakeful world. Only espish (ESP-like) Talents like Rosemary Evening, Janna, and the irresistible (to women) Joe Street can operate at will in the dream world the way the rest of us function in our daily lives. These Talents are like superheroes in the dream world.
Nothing from their wakeful world leaks into the dream world, so they know nothing about their wakeful selves while in the dream world. Conversely, what happens in your dreams stays in your dreams. that means the Talents know nothing of their sleeping exploits when they awaken and return to their normal lives. They know only vaguely that they are part of a super-secret project to save the world.
This two-way amnesia is a blessing for all. Some Talents are broken people whom life has treated cruelly (divorce, a lost child, cancer, horrible car crash, you name it). Other Talents are happy go lucky, sexy, beautiful men and women in dreams as well as daily life. Both types find healing and betterment in the dream world. As they prosper in the dark city of dreams, their wakeful selves heal as well. They leave behind fear, guilt, inhibition, poor self-image, and all the other demons that plague us wakeful types. While they save the world night after night, their wakeful selves grow stronger and more self-assured.
We have created the fictitious Cardtowner Institute (CTI), whose director is the charming Dr. Joe Street whose life becomes entwined with Rosemary's in the city of dreams. There is some soap opera here, since Rosemary suspects that Fanna, her beautiful guide, has already been intimate with handsome, vulnerable, bad boy boss Joe Street. Cindy likes to model this story (and possible series) on one of her favorite TV shows, Torchwood. Here we go now, with our Talents into the dream world…
